Louis Phillip Villarreal ended his journey too soon on June 4, 2015. He aged to 39 years. Louis was born in San Jose, CA, the youngest of six children to Edmundo and Guadalupe Villarreal. His love of all sports was defining, yet he held an extreme passion for baseball and international soccer. He was never happier watching his SF Giants win championships, and cheering on his favourite English teams on European pitches, especially during World Cup tournaments. Early years saw him fielding grounders while playing in East Hills Little League, and swatting tennis balls for the Mt. Pleasant High School Boys Team, Class of 1993. An accountant by trade, Louis received Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration degrees from his beloved Santa Clara University. Professionally, he worked for a number of tech companies here in Silicon Valley, traveling abroad for fun and sporting experiences. Louis also loved music; “obsessed” is probably the better description. He looked to lyric before melody in determining a band’s worth. He could enjoy a Depeche Mode synth-pop hit or a Rolling Stones rocker, and quickly switch to an Elvis classic or Beastie Boys beat. He knew what he liked. Louis was also well-read, finding expression and message from the likes of Steinbeck and Kerouac, among others. He cared not about labels; only if a book was a good read. He loved a good time, especially in North Beach, and enjoyed his family and friends, till his time came. One cannot forget his deep laugh, strong smile, and dedication to family and friendship. He will be missed by parents, sisters and brothers (Yolanda, Catherine, Michelle, Ed Jr. & Mark), nieces and nephew (Monica, Ava & Marco), aunts and uncles, cousins, friends and loved ones…all present in spirit during his last moments. A smile at the end signalled he was home.
