

Was born in New Mexico on January 24,1930 where she spent her childhood years, mainly in the towns of Cerrillos, Bernalillo and Abiquiu. Her childhood home in Abiquiu became the home of American artist Georgia O’Keeffe and is open to the public for home tours. Her family moved to San Jose, California when she was a teen, where she graduated from San Jose High School.
She was married for 60 plus years to her late husband Frank Tornel Najera. Lucy worked at Fairchild Semiconductor for many years.
She raised four children- daughter Helen (Gabe Reyes), her late son Frank Jr. , daughter Cindy (Jaime Gutierrez) and son Leo Najera, and her grandson, Frank Najera III.
She has nine grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
She enjoyed being an auxiliary member of the American GI Forum, being on a bowling team, painting, crocheting and crafting. She was also a great cook and passed her recipes on to her family.
Her youngest son Leo Najera lived with her in Merced and took care of her until she moved into Loma Clara Senior assisted living in Morgan Hill.
Lucy loved her Chihuahua Diva. She loved being with her extended family and they loved their GiGi. She will be missed very much…
Service will be held on May 28th, 2023 in the Chapel of the Roses, from 12:00pm to 1:30pm.
