Marcella M. Martinez

July 6, 1924 - May 9, 2015

Marcella “Marcy” Mary Martinez, of Gilroy, California, entered into eternal life, surrounded by her family, on Saturday May 9, 2015 at St. Louise Regional Hospital in Gilroy, California. She is predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Joseph N. Martinez, and sons Michael B. Martinez and Mark L. Martinez, all of San Jose, California. She is also predeceased by her parents, Benedict and Sofia Aragon of Colorado.

Marcella, a homemaker, was also an accomplished tailor and seamstress. The joys in her life included having her family and extended family surrounding her. She loved when her home was filled with laughter and activity of children. She was involved in various parish activities, notably serving multiple terms as President of the Women’s Guild at Saint Joseph the Worker in Canoga Park, CA. She volunteered tirelessly (often late at night) with the Birthright organization of San Jose; assisting young women, their children and unborn children, to find shelter, clothing, and resources for a much needed helping hand.

She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Luma of Watsonville, California, Maria Gonzalez (Richard) of Hollister, California, and her sons Martin Martinez of Oxnard, California, Maurice Martinez of Gilroy, California and her companion, Bud Iserman, of Gilroy, California. Her nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren provide the promise of a living legacy of a strong and caring woman. She is also survived by her siblings, Evangeline Saavedra, Ben Aragon, Harold Aragon, and Roger Aragon.
