On Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022, Marshall V. Soria passed away at age
102 in Fresno, California surrounded by his family.
Marshall Emigrated to the USA via El Paso, Texas with his
parents, June 1922. Marshall lived with his parents and siblings in
South & Central California as agricultural workers. The Soria family
settled in Wasco California.
During High School in the mid 30’s, Marshall worked in the
fields, but he was also a track & field star. Some of his track records
held up until the 60’s. He was a WWII Veteran at the Battle of
the Bulge and was proud to serve his country. He enjoyed the
WWII reunions and being around his band of brothers sharing
their stories.
Marshall was a member of The VFW Post 809 Color Guard for
many years and proudly carried the American Flag in the
parades downtown San Jose and his main purpose was to
present a contingent to bear honors at funerals.
Marshall married Thomasa Rojas in 1941 and had 8 children, 5
boys and 3 girls. Marshall was a Cement Mason for 50+ years.
During the 60’s, his crew was involved with the TransAmerica
building in San Francisco, along with numerous other projects. In
the Late 70s he founded his own company, Loomis and Soria.
Marshall and his late wife Thomasa were longtime residents of San
Jose until Marshall Retired, then moved to Fresno.
Marshall will be remembered by being that person that would
give the “shirt off his back” for anyone. His kindness and his smile
with his mustache was his trademark. He loves to listen to
Mariachi music and once he hears the Cumbia music come on,
then you'll find him on the dance floor.
He loved to travel with his wife. They traveled to Mexico,
Hawaii, and Europe and throughout the United States. He loved
spending time with his family, especially celebrating his
Birthdays.
Marshall was a loving Husband and Father. Marshall is
survived by his children, Marshall V. Soria Jr, Rachel Peralta
(Daniel), his late son Manuel Soria(Minerva), Jimmy Soria,
Anthony Soria (Alice), Dolores Baraona (Mario), Yolanda Soria,
Michael Soria (Cecilia).
A loving Grandfather of 22 grandkids, 40 great-grandkids and 30
great - great grandkids. Loving brother of Frank Soria and
Victoria Soria. Preceded in death by his parents Pedro and Paula
V. Soria, Brothers John and Marguerito Soria, sisters Lupe Olguin
and Bessie Perales.
Marshall is a loving brother-in-law and uncle to many
nephews and nieces.
