

Nelia Mata Doldolea, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend, passed away at the age of 88 on November 18, 2025 in San Jose, California. She was born on September 20, 1937, in Bantayan, Cebu, Philippines to the late Emerita and Gabriel Sr. Nelia was preceded in death by her siblings Dulce, Camilo, Perla, and Peter and is lovingly survived by her siblings Alicia and Gabriel Jr. Nelia lived a life rich in love, faith, and kindness. She was the devoted wife of the late Gilbert Doldolea, with whom she shared 60 beautiful years of marriage.
In 1971, Nelia and Gilbert immigrated to the United States, settling first in San Francisco, where she worked in hotel housekeeping and became the Head Housekeeper at Quality/Comfort Inn. In 1980, they made San Jose their home, and Nelia continued her dedicated work as an Environmental Services Aide at Kaiser San Jose for 27 years. Her strong work ethic and warm spirit left an impression on everyone she met.
A nurturing mother to Ronald Doldolea (Mary Ann), Chona Baizas (Carlito), and Ginelyn Kudsi (Anthony), and a proud grandmother of five, Giselle, Gwendolyn, Ryan, Apollo, and Ashlyn, Nelia found her greatest joy in caring for her family. Known for her radiant smile, gentle heart, and incomparable Filipino cooking—especially her lumpia, biko, and leche flan—she made every gathering special.
After retirement, Nelia enjoyed traveling with Gilbert, visiting the Holy Land, Europe, and taking cruises to the Caribbean, Mexico, and Alaska. She also loved watching Filipino dramas and variety entertainment shows on TFC and relaxing at the casino slot machines. Nelia will be fondly remembered for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for family and friends.
