Niva Maria Prevedello Bouchet, aged 56, passed away peacefully at her best friend’s home on November 2, 2025, after a courageous five-year battle with metastatic breast cancer. Born on June 3, 1969, in San Jose, California, Niva lived a life overflowing with love, joy, and enthusiasm.
A Heart That Saw Everyone.
To know Niva was to feel truly seen. She had a remarkable gift for making people feel important, valued, and loved. Whether meeting someone for the first time or deepening decades-long friendships, she wanted to know you—your joys, your struggles, your stories. She listened with her whole heart and cared with her whole soul. Her compassion was limitless, and her warmth left a lasting imprint on everyone fortunate enough to cross her path.
A Life Filled With Joy, Light, and Celebration
Niva embraced life with an enthusiasm that was both rare and contagious. She sang loudly, danced joyfully, cooked lovingly, laughed freely, and filled every space with brightness. She was the life of the party—not because she sought attention, but because she brought joy wherever she went. Gathering friends and family for celebrations, dancing until her feet, back, and neck hurt, and Karaoke nights were hallmarks of who she was.
She delighted in planning outings and maintaining traditions: from pumpkin patches in the fall, decorating the house each winter, Easter Egg hunts, to spontaneous trips to Santa Cruz. Her home was always open; all were welcome. She created an environment of love and belonging everywhere she went.
A Spirit of Adventure
Niva lived with fearless curiosity and an appetite for adventure. She traveled across the world—Thailand, Mexico, Denmark, Hawaii, and throughout Europe, including Italy, where her father’s family lives, and Canada, where her mother’s family lives. She cruised around the tip of Argentina and explored destinations both far away and close to home. Road trips in a motorhome, trailer, or by car were among her favorite adventures. She especially loved staying by the ocean in Carmel at the Hyland Inn, the place where she was married, and visiting family and friends in Ventura. She treasured time in places like Lake Tahoe, Genoa, and Las Vegas.
Adventure wasn’t an occasional pursuit; it was part of who she was. She drove like a race car driver, went skydiving for her 50th birthday, and loved roller coasters, amusement rides, scuba diving, zip lines, white-water rafting, boating, swimming in lakes, and hiking through nature’s beauty. If there was something exciting to try, Niva was already saying “yes.”
A Home Builder in Every Sense
While she loved exploring the world, she also cherished home life deeply. She poured her heart into her home— caring for her pets, gardening and continually dreaming up home improvement projects. She created a home buzzing with warmth, laughter, energy, and love.
Niva was also a successful real estate investor. She truly enjoyed viewing properties, imagining their potential, and building a strong foundation for her family’s future.
A Legacy of Love
Niva is survived by her parents, Antonio and Dona Prevedello; her devoted husband, Daniel Bouchet; and her beloved children, Siena and Nicolas Bouchet. Her family was the center of her world. She poured immeasurable love into them, supporting their dreams, celebrating their milestones, and filling their lives with warmth, passion, and tenderness.
For her family, her friends, and all who knew her, Niva’s passing marks the end of an era. Yet her legacy—one of deep compassion, joy, courage, and boundless love—will continue to shine through the many lives she touched.
