Peter was born on November 27, 1927 in Pittsburg California to the late Angelina (Lucido) Cirivilleri of Pittsburg, California, and Salvatore Cirivilleri of Palermo, (Sicily) Italy. Peter had one sister, the late Josephine (Cirivilleri) Stover, and many cousins (all now deceased) who were like brothers and sisters to him from San Jose and Monterey, California. He is survived by Mary Patricia, his beloved wife of 71 years, and his 8 children: Joanne Francia; Carolyn Whalen and husband John; Peter T. Cirivilleri, Jr; Kathryn Cirivilleri; Nancy Schmitt and husband Robert; Robert Cirivilleri and wife Kathleen; James Cirivilleri; and Richard Cirivilleri. Along with his children, Pete is survived by11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his niece, Colleen Tuell, nephew Daniel Swint, granddaughter Sara Francia, and great granddaughter Elle Garcia.
Peter grew up in Pittsburg, surrounded by fun, adventure, and many friends. He was an accomplished boy scout and star baseball and football player at Pittsburg High School. Following his graduation, Peter was drafted into the Navy and served during the last eight months of World War II. Upon his return, Peter enrolled at San Jose State College, where he joined Sigma Nu Fraternity, (acquiring countless life-long friends). He served as President of the Blue Key Honor Society, and was also elected Student Body President of his Junior class, and Treasurer of his Senior class.
After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, he met Mary Patricia Bolce while on an auditing assignment in Lake County California. After several months of dating, they joined Mary’s sister, Jeannette, and Peter’s best friend Joe DeLallo in a double wedding on February 14th, 1953. Between the two couples, they had 17-children, who are all still with us…enjoying one another and raising wonderful families also.
A month after the wedding Peter was re-drafted by the Navy and attended Officers Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. It was difficult leaving his newly-wed wife, but by the time she later joined him in Newport, Peter had graduated a newly commissioned Ensign. After being promoted to Lieutenant, Peter and Mary Pat started their family as he served out the remainder of his naval career in the years following the Korean conflict.
Peter went on to work hard and with honor as a highly respected Certified Public accountant, but he also adored spending time with his family and friends. He loved playing golf, and playing cards at The Elks Club with the boys. He was also a big sports fan, and rarely missed watching pro and college football. There has been absolutely NO ONE who loved the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team more than he did.
On December 31st, 2021 Peter retired as the oldest active CPA in California. He was a man respected by all, and filled with dedication, honor, and professionalism.
We will ALL miss him dearly.
