Philip passed away at the age of 91 on July 28, 2021. Born to Philip and Beth Wall in Marysville, California, he grew up in San Jose, Santa Clara and Santa Cruz. “Phil” is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, MaryRose, and children Ken (Jane), Gary, Don (Kathy), Denise (Terry), Karen (Tom), Linda (Scott), 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
After meeting the love of his life, Phil married MaryRose on June 25, 1955. Following their marriage, they moved to Ft. Belvoir, Virginia, where he attended school while serving in the U.S. Army. A couple years later, they moved back to California where he worked as a cartographer at the Presidio of San Francisco. Upon his military discharge, he spent 33 years as a foreman in paving and grading for The Operating Engineers.
Family life was always important to Phil and in the early 1960s, he and his wife settled in the Alum Rock area of San Jose where they raised their six children. Over the years they lovingly welcomed grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and the family continues to grow.
After Phil retired, the couple enjoyed traveling the world. Phil joined the Sirs Club, volunteered at St. John Vianney Church and loved playing golf. At home he was a jack-of-all-trades and could build or fix anything. You could find him tinkering in the garage and he was happy to share his skills and experiences with everyone. Phil had a friendly smile and an infectious laugh that always lit up a room.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 24, 2021, St. John Vianney Church, 4600 Hyland Avenue, San Jose.
