

When someone is identified as a natural leader, certain images come to mind. First thoughts are of a no-nonsense, tough-minded, dedicated and disciplined person. This description accurately fits Ralph J. Pasquinelli Jr. who was indeed a born manager. He will be remembered as being highly organized, practical and realistic. He was a person who always carried a strong sense of duty with him throughout his life. Possessed with traditional “old school” morals, Ralph was an individual who clearly communicated to those around him just who he was and what he was all about. Everyone acquainted with Ralph knew him as a well-respected man who was a stable force in his community.
Ralph was born on January 5, 1938 at Santa Clara County Hospital in San Jose, California. His parents were Ralph and Ida Pasquinelli. Ralph was raised in San Jose, California. Even as a youngster, Ralph learned to be objective and decisive. His faith in the principles of authority and dependability was something that he carried with him throughout his life.
Ralph's matter-of-fact attitude about most things was developed during his childhood. As a young boy, Ralph enjoyed being part of teams, and organizations and groups of other kids who shared similar interests. Ralph took part in baseball and football. He was a boyscout.
All who knew him would agree that Ralph was a pillar of the community. He lived his life with his feet firmly on the ground. He had a strong work ethic, was pragmatic in his thoughts and acts, and constantly sought the means for self-improvement. He was willing to share his ideas and knowledge for the benefit of others, so that they could accomplish more in their lives. Ralph J. Pasquinelli Jr. did his best to ensure that his family, friends, loved ones, co-workers, and everyone whose life he touched was given the chance to become a better person.
Ralph has spent his entire 74 years as a San Jose area resident. Ralph took great pride in his knowledge of San Jose history. He enjoyed sharing stories about how things were, "way back then." He attended Lincoln High School and has many close friends from that time, still today. Ralph served his country in the Army for three years. At 25 years old, Ralph began his 30 year career with IBM. He retired in 1992 with his last 19 years as a Field Service Manager. Ralph went on to pursue a second career as a restauranteur, where in 1986, he purchased the Mini Gourmet Restaurant. He has worked the last 26 years in that restaurant and continued to work until just days before he lost his longterm battle with cancer.
Ralph leaves behind his daughter Gina Hawkins of San Jose, his son Alan Pasquinelli of San Jose and his daughter Denise Hall of Loveland, CO. He is also survived by many cousins, aunts, uncles and longtime friends. Ralph had a passion for life and a fun loving spirit. He loved football and was a devoted 49er faithful. He enjoyed golf, basketball and traveling the world. To those that knew Ralph, know that now he is more alive and without pain. Services were held at Oak Hill Funeral Home in San Jose, California. Ralph was laid to rest in Oak Hill Memorial Park in San Jose, California.
