Remo G. “Ray” Scoffone
Apr. 18, 1927-June 12, 2023
A lifelong California native, Remo Scoffone lived most of his life in San Jose. Son to Gustavo and Eugenia, he had one brother, Aldo. Ray was a hard worker, loyal friend, dedicated family man, with a great sense of humor. He was lucky in love, devoted to Virginia, his wife of nearly 70 years and loving father to 6 lucky children, grandfather to 15, and great grandfather to 9. He served in the US Navy and after the war attended San Jose State University where he earned his EE degree. In those days jobs were scarce for engineers in the “Valley of Heart’s Delight” so he moved his wife and baby to Los Angeles where they lived, worked, and expanded their family until they “came home” 15 years later and, he landed a place at Lockheed. Retirement came 27 years later and Ray found “Sons In Retirement” branch 21 where he enjoyed the camaraderie of other “guys” and eventually acquired the responsibility of finding interesting speakers for their monthly meetings. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed hiking, and weekly doubles games with his tennis group. Ray and Virginia enjoyed a happy retirement together full of love and laughter, home and family. Remo passed away at the age of 96, with his family near. A Rosary will be held at Willow Glen Funeral home, 7/31/23 at 6:30 pm (1039 Lincoln Av, San Jose) and Funeral Mass at St. Christopher Church, 8/1/23 at 10:30 am (2278 Booksin Av, San Jose).
