Rose was born on February 25th, 1930 in Jamestown, New York to Anna and Philip Lombardo. She was the youngest, and last remaining of eight siblings. At the age of five years old, her family relocated to Santa Clara County where she remained.
A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, Rose dedicated her life to her family and was often described as the “glue” who kept everyone together. As a young woman she worked in the cannery, eventually owned her own restaurant, and finally settled in a career as a banquet captain for over 20 years.
You could find Rose at any of her favorite places: the bingo hall, playing the poker machine in Las Vegas, or at happy hour having a martini on the rocks. She had a tremendous amount of life in her, even at 90 years old. There was no telling Rose to “slowdown,” but that was all part of her charm. She had a gift for connecting with people, no matter what walk of life they were from. Everyone who was lucky enough to know her, knew what a force she was.
One of Rose’s main passions was her cooking. Her signature spaghetti and meatball sauce was a staple at every family gathering. Her family remembers fondly the multi-course meal she would prepare for each holiday. There was no saying “no” to her food! No one ever left her home with an empty stomach.
Rose is survived by her husband of 46 years, Jack Collie, three children, Anna Lynn White, Richard Priola, Terri Gaydosh, two stepchildren Ronald Collie and David Collie, and many grand and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Rose was truly a light in this world, who touched the heart of everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
