Salvador is survived by his devoted wife Olimpia; sons and their wife, Sal & Jeannie, Edward & Veronica, Alfredo & Sonya, his nine amazing grandchildren Melissa, Eddie Ray, Salvador, Mariah, Amada, Andrea, Marcos, Michael, and Mateo, and six wonderful great-grandchildren Jayden, Haylie, Aiden, Lillie, Edward (Noah), and Carliray, dearest sisters Maria, Estella, Amada, brother Jose (Pepe), many nephews, nieces, and lifelong friends.
He was born in 1934 in the State of Zacatecas, Mexico, one of eleven siblings to Francesca Vallez De Montelongo and Gumado Montelongo Regis. Salvador was raised in his beloved town Chalchihuites, Zacatecas. He met Olimpia Del Valle at a dance, who later became his wife of 63 years and mother to their three cherished treasures: sons Sal, Eddie, and Alfredo.
In 1958, he began his happy 35-plus year career at Oliver’s Saddlery in San Jose, CA. He ended his dedication and hard work at Sorrento Cheese.
Salvador enjoyed his San Diego visits with his siblings, his in-laws, nieces, and nephews, and he especially loved spending time with his sons, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. He also looked forward and loved it when his immediate family gathered for all events. His 89 years of life, Salvador enjoyed his life, he loved to laugh, go on vacations (Rome, Hawaii, Mazatlán, New York, Mexico), with his most memorable trip being with his three sons to Cabo San Lucas.
Salvador leaves a legacy of love, respect, acceptance, and the generosity he continually showed to others, and he raised his sons to do the same, which in turn has been taught to his grandchildren. His generosity built lifelong friends, who eventually became and remained his family, especially Jose & Consuelo Mendoza, the late Jesus Lopez, Alicia Lopez and Family, Sammy Aguirre, Maria Vargas and Family, and also the Franco Family and their daughters, who he embraced as his own daughters: Maria, Giselle, and Juanita.
Our “Viejito/Pops” is now free to drink as many cups of “Cafecito” and dance to El Mariachi Loco as much as he wants.
Viejito/Pops, it is not good-bye, it is until we meet again.
