Setsuko Sue Miyamoto passed away on November 3, 2016 at the age of 93. She was born on Feb. 11, 1923 to Takaji and Fusa Oshita in Yanai, Japan, but spent all her life in the U.S. She graduated from Stockton High School and Delta College.
In 1942, she married Isamu (Sam) Miyamoto. WWII started and they were detained in a relocation camp in Rohwer, AK. After the war ended, they returned to Stockton and then moved to San Jose to grow strawberries.
They moved to their current home in San Jose. Sue worked for Valley View Packing Co. and then worked at San Jose State’s Purchasing Dept. She was one of SJSU’s main Purchasing Agents when she retired from SJSU with 25 yrs of service in 1988.
Her husband, Sam passed away in 2013. Sue is survived by her sons, Robert (Karen), Shigeru (Barbara), daughter Lynda (Steve) Ichinaga, grandchildren Erica (Brad) Morikawa, Meghan & Courtney Miyamoto, Heather & Ryan Ichinaga, great-grandsons Jackson, Grant, & Tyler.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016 at 4:00PM at the San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin, 640 N. 5th St, San Jose, CA 95112. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the SJBC Building Fund or favorite charity.
