Sylvester Chaidez, 96 years, of Modesto, CA passed away peacefully with his loved ones by his side. He was born on New Year's Eve in Aromas, CA the son of the late Bonifacio and Susie Chaidez. He was the oldest of 6 siblings and grew up in Bakersfield, CA
At age 17, he enlisted in the Navy and served his country during WWII. He met the love of his life, Dolores Savala, on a blind double date. After years of dating, they eloped on December 29, 1956 in Reno, NV and moved to San Jose, CA. They were married for 43 years till the death of Dolores on April 11, 2000.
He worked as a foreman in the field of construction. He was a loyal 49er and Warrior fan, he enjoyed barbequing for family and friends, dancing and listening to mariachi music and working on numerous projects in his backyard.
He leaves behind a daughter and two sons; Denise Puentes (Phillip) and their two children Brianna and Jordan; David Chaidez (Lisa) and their two sons Matthew and Anthony; Vincent Chaidez (Rosie) and their three children Melissa, Gabriel, and Raquel. Great grandchildren: Lola, Elin, Henrik, Xavier, Sofia, Olivia, Jovanni, Leia, and Eli.
Although he leaves us in body, his memory will remain forever in our hearts and we have peace knowing he is reunited with the love of his life, our dear mother, Dolores.
A Memorial Service will be held at Oak Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 300 Curtner Avenue San Jose, CA on Tuesday, February 7 in the Drawing Room Chapel at 11:00am with the burial to follow around 12:00pm
