

Vernon Glenn DeWerdt passed from his life on earth March 10, 2022 at the age of 92. He was the son of the late John and Ethel DeWeerdt. Yes, John dropped an “e” from his last name. Vern said it was because there were too many of them.
He was born May 12, 1929 in Fulton, Illinois. Vern served 4 years in the United States Army and was a retired milkman. He also owned and raced horses with his younger brother Ray. They actually won a few races too.
Vern is survived by his sons Bill DeWerdt and wife Fran of Indiana, Steve DeWerdt of Illinois, David Farr and wife Veronica of California, Tim Midkiff and wife Geri of California, daughters Becca Midkiff Wheeler and husband Chris of Oklahoma and Theresa Midkiff Wheeler and husband Steve of Texas, brother Ray DeWerdt and wife Diane of California, sister Carol DeWerdt Van Wyk of California and 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and other family members too many to count. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Ethel DeWeerdt, wives Kathleen McCarty DeWerdt, Sharon Farr DeWerdt, Patsy Midkiff DeWerdt, son James Midkiff and sister Ann DeWerdt DeYoung and husband Ken and brother-in-law Norm Van Wyk.
Visitation will be at 2 pm with graveside services following at 3 pm at Oak Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 300 Curtner Ave, San Jose, CA 95125 with Pastor Vincent Arishvara officiating.
Vern supported the National Kidney Foundation. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Patsy Midkiff DeWerdt’s name, if you wish.
