Walter Lee Gooch Sr.

Mr. Gooch was born on February 2nd, 1949 in Charleston West Virginia. He attended Charleston High in 1966 participating in the Charleston High School drum line marching band. Upon graduating he furthered his education by attending Mata Technical College receiving a degree in Computer Programming. He then entered into the United States Air force in 1970 achieving the rank of Technical Sergeant , after 20 yrs of service Mr. Gooch retired with honors and a sense of accomplishment. He then proceeded to work for the United States Postal Service retiring 5 yrs later. Walter enjoyed daily Tai Chi exercise routines, fingertip pushups, martial arts, bowling, jazz, fishing, watching the North Carolina Panthers Football team and walks at the park with his granddaughter Ma'lea K. Wootten. Proceeded in death was his father Mr. Willie L. Gooch Sr., mother Mrs. Ollie F. Gooch, and his only son Walter L. Gooch Jr. Survived by his wife of 38yrs Deseria G.Gooch, 2 daughters Marquita G. Gooch and Deseree Gooch, 2 sons Willie Guerrero and Reggie Guerrero as well as 2 sisters Lavern (Gooch) Taylor, Valerie (Gooch) Foster and 3 brothers Willie L. Gooch Jr., Ronald Gooch, Robert Gooch and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends including his best friend Paul Charleston and family.
