William Edwin Hawkins Jr. died at Good Samaritan Hospital on January 26, 2017 at 89 years old. He was born August 14, 1927 to Effie and William Hawkins in their family home in Hollister, California. After Ed graduated high school he served in the military during World War II. He attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and graduated with a degree in Agronomy and Agriculture. Then, he became a federal food inspector for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, where he was employed for 30 years. Outside of work, Ed enjoyed being with his family, treasure hunting, gardening, caring for his dog, and being a Master Mason. He was truly devoted to his family and even until the day he died, he continued to put them first. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Hawkins, daughter, Debby Raney, son and daughter in-law, Bruce and Sunny Hawkins, and three grandchildren, Glenn Raney, Lindsey Raney, and Angela Hawkins. Family and friends are welcome to attend his memorial service on April 15th, 2017 at 2:30 pm at Unity Church San Jose, 175 Bernal Rd, Suite 104, San Jose, CA 95119.
