Bill was born on November 27, 1946, in Oakland, CA to Nancy and Chester Hayward.
He would go on to live most of his life in San Jose graduating from Willow Glen High School
(1964) and San Jose State University (1969), where he earned a degree in finance. While in
college, he would join the National Guard and serve his country proudly.
Bill married Donna Willis June 5, 1976 in Hamilton, Texas. The following year they
moved to California and had two children: William Jr. (Bill) and Donald (Don).
He would spend the greater part of his life in the financial world. For over 20 years he
worked for Seagate Technology, ultimately as a Senior Director of Worldwide Credit.
Bill was an avid fan of multiple sports teams including the Oakland Raiders, Golden State
Warriors, and San Jose State athletics. One of his greatest loves was his 1953 Mercury
Monterey. Often you would find him working on his cherished car in the garage. He loved
spending time with his family, attending everything he could for his grandkids and working on his
home/garden.
Bill is survived by his wife, Donna; children Bill (Maria) and Don (Traci); four
grandchildren James (14), John (11), Austin (7), and Aiden (4); and many, many friends.
Bill especially will be remembered for his generous nature, flair for storytelling, and
ability to make friends wherever he went.
