Yvonne Mary (Huot) Kozlovsky, known by family and friends as Teri, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, prayer and music on March 23, 2024 in San Jose, California. She is survived by her husband Rear Admiral William P. Kozlovsky, U.S. Coast Guard; children and spouses Susan (Kozlovsky) Husk and Mike Husk, Bill Kozlovsky and Ann Ducharme Kozlovsky, Patricia Kozlovsky and Paul Martin, Janette (Kozlovsky) Blee and Robert Blee, and Kaela Kozlovsky Bernal and Mark Bernal; grandchildren Kirsten Kozlovsky Abercrombie, Karen Kozlovsky, Christina Kozlovsky, John Blee, Shannon Blee, Mary Blee, Aidan Bernal, Declan Bernal; and great grandson Edward Abercrombie.
Yvonne was born in Minnesota to Joseph Godias Huot and Marguerite (Kutcher) Huot. She attended the College of the Holy Names and received a degree in Education. Upon graduation, she enjoyed teaching elementary school in the Bay Area. She met her husband, Bill, through mutual friends and they started dating while he was stationed at U.S. Coast Guard Island in Alameda, California.
After getting married, Teri and Bill spent more than 32 years experiencing many adventures with the United States Coast Guard as they moved 19 times in the US including exotic locations such as Honolulu, Hawaii. Teri was an amazing mother and made sure during every move that her children were in the right schools and had the opportunity to participate in the extracurricular activities of their choice. She attended horse shows, swim meets, piano and dance recitals, choir concerts and more, always supporting and cheering on her kids.
Teri was a faith-filled woman and her first activity during every move was finding the closest Catholic Church. She would immediately volunteer for any ministries that needed help, whether it be as a lector, lay eucharistic minister, mass coordinator, or youth ministry. She always believed that God had a plan and that everything worked out for the best.
Teri was one of the most positive people you could ever know. She enjoyed meeting and talking to people anywhere, anytime, anyplace. She truly believed the best of everyone she met and never said an unkind word about anyone. She had the biggest smile and loved spending time with family and friends, playing Scrabble and bridge.
In addition to all that she did for her family and the Catholic Church, Teri also worked at a variety of interesting jobs. Over the years she worked as a flower arranger, mortgage loan processor and administrative assistant in different places they lived. She was creative and appreciated all the beauty that the world has to offer.
Her family and friends will always remember her amazing ability to make those around her feel special and loved. She had angels around her every day of her life and made the best of every possible situation. She will be dearly missed, but we know she is now one of the angels watching over us all.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 10:00 am with a Catholic Funeral Mass to follow at St. Francis of Assisi Church in San Jose, CA (5111 San Felipe Road, San Jose, CA 95135).
