Han pasado dos años de tu partida Mamita y te extraño demasiado. Quisiera abrasarte y besarte, pero se que estás feliz con el Señor Jesús disfrutando de la paz y la alegría eterna que te gastaste por tu gran corazón en vida!! Cuida como un angel que eres a tus nietos y biznietos, y mas ahora que tenemos a Vida Luz  nombrada en tu honor!! Siempre te amaremos Madre querida!!!

My sincerest condolences on your loss. 

I came across Luz’ obituary researching my great grandparents Avelino Lugo and Julia Torres and I can’t help but see a striking resemblance between Luz Belen and my father and grandfather (see photo of both men attached). I am curious to know if this beloved soul is my grandfathers sister. His name was William Lugo (possibly Guillermo). He was also from San Juan, but moved to NYC in the 1930s. He had a son (my father) and 3 daughters.  I hope we can make this connection. And once again I am so deeply sorry for your loss. 

I didn’t know Belen very well. I had the pleasure of meeting her a few times on my family’s trips to Puerto Rico. But being the grandson of her sister, Carmen, gave me an instant connection with her. Uncle Modestito and she were the kindest people you could ever meet. Even barely knowing us, they welcomed us, they fed us, and they loved us. They introduced me to cousins and aunts and uncles I hadn’t know for ten years of my life. My times visiting them are some of my favorite in life. They are memories I will forever cherish. It is because of them, and because of my beautiful grandmother, Carmen, that I chose to study the Spanish language. Lastly, losing Belen feels like losing the last connection to my grandmother, who I miss deeply. However, I know they are now together, celebrating life eternal, abundantly joyful. We will miss you, Belen. Love you! 

Mami fue un ángel que Dios nos prestó por todo este tiempo en la tierra. Fue un ser excepcional, amoroso, gentil y servicial que tocó la vida y el alma  de muchas personas. Gracias por todos tus desvelos, consejos y enseñanzas, pero sobre todo gracias por estar siempre ahí para nosotras y  por el amor incondicional que siempre nos diste.  Hoy sentimos un vacío bien grande en nuestros corazones por tu partida que solo lo supera saber que no estás sufriendo y que te fuiste tranquila como te merecías. Descansa en paz mamita querida. Siempre estarás en nuestros corazones y formarás parte de nuestras vidas. Te Amamos mami. Bendición!!

We will always remember Tia Belen with much affection. So generous, sweet and kind.  May she Rest In Peace.
