Mary "Mollie" Lucille Donlan

Mollie was born in San Rafael, California in 1950 to Patrick “Leo” and Lucille Donlan, where she also lived with her older brother Patrick. A graduate from Terra Linda High School in 1968, Mollie completed her Pharmacy Assistant Training Course at the Veterans Administration in San Francisco and shortly thereafter began her 30-year career as a pharmacy technician. She earned many “Outstanding Performance” Awards during her career, and in 2001, she took an early retirement to care for her ailing parents and to help care for her young grandnephews and grandniece. Later on, she went back to work part-time.

Friends and family meant everything to Mollie. She formed many important relationships with friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers and maintained these close relationships throughout her life. Additionally, she was Godmother, Auntie, Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, Holiday Chef/Host, and Driver’s Ed instructor to two generations of Donlans.

During her lifetime, Mollie held many interests and hobbies including baking, painting, gardening, bowling and spending time with friends, family, and loved ones. She greatly enjoyed music, movies, genealogy, craft fairs, light-hearted pranks, trips to Reno, and roller coasters and log rides. Dedication to her Catholic faith was also central in Mollie’s life. Additionally, she never let a birthday, holiday, graduation, or promotion go uncelebrated or unrecognized.

Mollie was one in a billion who will be best remembered by her wit, independence, fierce loyalty, lifelong friendships, wonderful sense of humor, and most of all, her warmth and enormously generous spirit.

Mollie is survived by her nephew Pat Donlan, her niece Kathleen Donlan, and their spouses Lisa Donlan and Kyle Blount. Other surviving family members include her grandnephews Sean Donlan, Andrew Donlan and Finley Blount, and her grandniece Rowan Blount.

A service will be held for Mollie at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 20th at St. Raphael’s Church, 1104 5th Avenue in San Rafael, CA.
