Claire M. Cox

Claire M. Cox (McDonald), 89, of Sandwich, Massachusetts, passed away on March 15, 2026, at her home with her loving husband, Thomas, by her side. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on September 9, 1936, to the late Joseph and Blanche McDonald (Spears). Claire will be lovingly remembered as a beloved, compassionate, generous, gentle, hard-working, and kind-hearted woman whose presence brought comfort to those around her.

Claire was born in Boston and graduated from Saint Patrick’s High School in Randolph, MA, before continuing her education at Brockton Hospital for nursing, where she completed her training. She cherished time spent with her family and took a sincere interest in history and genealogy, including involvement with the New England Historical Genealogical Society.

Claire is survived by her husband, Tom, to whom shared 62 years together; their sons, Jeffrey Cox of Sandwich, MA, Kevin Cox and his wife Cynthia of Carlisle, MA, David Cox and his wife Mary of Sandwich, MA, and John Cox of Marlborough, MA, and six grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Thomas, Anna, Bryan, and Timothy as well as many nephews, and nieces. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Harold McDonald, Mary O'Donnell, and John McDonald.

Visiting Hours will be held at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A, Sandwich, MA 02563, on March 23, 2026, from 8:30 am to 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Parish, 324 Quaker meeting house Rd., Sandwich, MA on March 23, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Burial will take place at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Bourne, MA 02542, on March 23, 2026, from 12:45 pm to 1:00 pm.
