

David Robert Whearty, of Sandwich passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at his home. He was the husband of Colleen E. (Nicholson) Whearty. The couple would have celebrated their 14 year wedding anniversary this October.
Born in Natick, MA, he was the son of Robert D. and Arlene (Cawley) Whearty of East Sandwich. David resided all but 2 months of his life in Sandwich. He had a real love for the town.
He was a graduate of Sandwich High School Class of 1988 and attended Cape Cod Community College. Mr. Whearty graduated from the Plymouth Police Academy in 2003.
David had a great love for the ocean and enjoyed spending time at the beach with his family. At the age of 16 he started his career working at the Sandwich Marina. He had worked as an Assistant Harbor Master for 13 years and was promoted to Harbor Master for the last 3 years.
He enjoyed reading and was an avid Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins and New England Patriot fan. He enjoyed watching and attending football games with his family. He especially loved the times spent with his family, and sharing in their activities.
Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by a daughter, Cailyn Whearty, 7 and two sons, Patrick Whearty, 12 and Brandon Whearty, 10. He also is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
His funeral will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Corpus Christi Parish 324 Quaker Meeting House Road East Sandwich. Interment in Sandwich Town Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 4 – 8 p.m. at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home 154 Route 6A Sandwich, MA.
