Irene Lillian Bevacqua

She was born on February 3, 1917, in Sherbrook, Canada, the daughter of Antonio L. and Yvonne (Guimond) Grondin.

She grew up in South Boston, the eldest of twelve children. She met and married Salvador Bevacqua, who was from Buenos Aeros, Argentina, in 1935.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Salvador, a daughter Phyllis, her son-in-law Roney Alexander, two grandchildren, and seven siblings.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children; Ronald Bevacqua and his wife Marjorie of Florida, Norman Bevacqua and his wife Linda, and Wayne Bevacqua and his friend Linda Bonvie, all of Massachusetts. Rosemary Temprendola and her husband Bob of California, Bonnie Alexander of Tennessee, and Lillian Morin and her husband Will of Massachusetts. Also surviving are her siblings George Grondin, Rita Bullington, Joanie Laehler, and Carol Breadmore. She has twenty-one grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild. We will miss her smile, her humor, and her love of family.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 2, from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Rte. 6A, in Sandwich.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 11:00 AM at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in E. Falmouth. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers, that memorials be made in Irene’s name to a Cancer Foundation of your choice.
