Irma was born to the late Jacob and Ethel Britt on September 27, 1930 in Lumberton, North Carolina. She graduated from Lumberton High, remaining there and was employed by Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company.
She met and married her lifelong love, the late Clavis “Bo” Stallings. They made their home in Lumberton and Wilmington.
Irma is survived by her son Jeffrey Stallings and his wife Sandy of Cape Cod, a sister, Maureen Andrews of Fayetteville, North Carolina, A granddaughter, Jennifer Mango and three great grandchildren, Justice, Taylor and Logan, and a host of loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, Larry Stallings, who passed away at a young age, and her loving son Perry Joseph Stallings, formally of Brewster, MA.
In addition to being a super Mom, loving wife, and extraordinary homemaker, Irma held several positions outside of the home including being a clothing inspector for many years in Lumberton and Wilmington, North Carolina and being involved in the food service industry as a proprietor with her husband Clavis of a diner in Lumberton.
Irma was a kind and loving gentle soul, the embodiment of all that is good in the human genome.
Visitation will be held at Nickerson Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A in Sandwich on Sunday, October 20 from 4-7 pm. Burial at date and time still to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations in Irma’s name may be made the American Heart Association.
