Jacqueline Alice England

Born in Fall River, MA, the daughter of the late Raymond L. and Dorothy A. (Girard) Gagne. She had graduated from the Jesus – Mary Academy in Fall River, MA and also the Union Hospital School of Nursing in Fall River, MA, going on to pass her Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) state board examination in November of 1965. She later went on to earned her Bachelors in Science in Nursing from Southeastern Massachusetts University (SMU) in Dartmouth, MA.

Mrs. England had worked as a RN for 56 years. She started her career at Bay State Medical Center in Springfield, MA, Holyoke Hospital in Holyoke, MA, and St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, MA and also at Cape Cod Community College as a Registered Nurse in Health Services as well as a clinical instructor for the C.N.A. students. She later worked as a Registered Nurse at Mid-Cape Medical Center in Hyannis, MA, the nurse manager for Dr. John F. Berry in Centerville, MA, and later Beacon Hospice Care covering South Shore and finally at Cape Heritage Rehab and Health Care Center in Sandwich, MA, where she retired in January of 2022 at the age of 76.

She was a member of the Sandwich Women’s Tennis League, a parishioner and volunteer at Corpus Christi Parish where she took part in the Community Outreach Ministries such as Mary’s Closet Thrift Shop and the Eucharistic Adoration. She also participated in the Sandwich Police Department’s Citizens Police Academy program and helped with various town events and celebrations.

In addition to her husband Richard of 58 years, she is survived by her children, Christopher England of Fall River, MA, Timothy England and his wife Mary-Nicole of Spring, TX and Douglas England and his wife Heidi of Hudson, NH; brother David Gagne of Westport, MA; grandchildren, Ryan, Joshua, Khayla, Shane, Danielle, Morgan, Thomas, Selene, Harrison and Anna; great-grandchildren, Anwar, Aaliyah, Jack and Chase. She was predeceased by her brother Gerard Gagne and her granddaughter Ashley England.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Corpus Christi Parish 324 Quaker Meetinghouse Road, East Sandwich, MA. Burial to follow at the Sandwich Town Cemetery.
