Jeffrey Marston Hannah passed away peacefully in his home, at age 72, on January 15th, 2026. Born on December 31, 1953, Jeff was the beloved son of Edwin Jameson and Marjorie Grace (Holland) Hannah. Jeff's first 13 years were spent in Sandwich where he attended the Henry T. Wing School. After his father's passing in 1962, his mother remarried William T. Snow and the family moved to Weston, MA, where Jeff graduated from Weston High School.
While Jeff suffered the loss of his parents during his youth, he never let it dim his light. He paved his own path through life in unconventional ways. Following high school, Jeff backpacked the world visiting places like New Zealand & The Fiji Islands, leaving him with a lifetime of stories he would later share with all his friends and family, most of which warranted laughter and amazement.
Jeff eventually found his way back to Cape Cod where he spent several summers working on commercial fishing boats out of Barnstable Harbor, holding onto fond memories of Captains Ed Sprague and Walt Tripp on the “Apache”. Soon thereafter, following in the Hannah Family tradition, Jeff joined his brother and best friend Stephen “Pip” Hannah to form Hannah Brothers Builders. Jeff and Pip worked side by side for many years building and remodeling numerous homes in Sandwich Downs and the vicinity. When he wasn’t hard at work, you could find Jeff diving for lobsters at Scorton ledge, clamming at the creek, chasing striped bass on the boat or enjoying a nice cocktail with friends at the Sandy Neck Grille.
In 1995, Jeff married the love of his life, Heather. Not long after they welcomed their daughter Sophia Grace Hannah, in 1997.
Jeff and Sophia shared an unbreakable bond. There was nothing he wouldn’t do to make her smile. This often-meant daily trips to Twin Acres ice cream, afternoons spent at the arcade, or an occasional day of hooky spent fishing on the boat. Jeff had a way of including his daughter in everything he did. Whether he was building houses, visiting friends or just “puttering around”, his little girl was often by his side.
In retirement, Jeff excelled at gardening and striper fishing on his boat out of Sandwich Marina. He also hit some mean golf shots. Jeff had a way with animals; they always seemed to find him when they both needed it most. He had many devoted buddies throughout the years, Shannon, Bandit and Zoe among them.
In recent years, he was thrilled to be Grandfather to Sophia’s son, Travis Jeffrey (2) and daughter, Carson Elizabeth (9 weeks).
Jeff is predeceased by his parents Edwin Jameson & Marjorie Grace (Holland) Hannah and his brother Stephen Winthrop Hannah. He leaves behind his loving wife of 30 years, Heather Hannah, his daughter and son in law, whom he loved dearly, Sophia Cratty & Derek Cratty, his grandchildren who were his whole world, Travis Jeffrey Cratty and Carson Elizabeth Cratty, his eldest brother Jameson Titus Hannah, his sister in law and dear friend, Janice Hannah Davis and Jeff Davis, and his nephews Eric Hannah, Mark Hannah and Jameson Hannah and their families.
Jeff will be remembered fondly and missed dearly by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 195 Main Street Sandwich, MA 02563 on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 10:00 am, followed by a private burial.
