

Mr. Joseph P. Giar, Jr., 66, of East Sandwich, formerly of Manomet, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday with his loved ones by his side. He was the beloved husband of Karen (Vigilante) Giar whom he shared 43 years of marriage.
Born in Plymouth, Joe was the son of the late Joseph and Clara (Carruthers) Giar. He was a fixture at the Plymouth Nuclear Power Station for 38 years, retiring in 2010.
Joe was affectionately known as being the voice of reason. He was a humble man with a wonderful sense of humor. He loved to debate and was often known to “stir the pot” amongst family members and friends. Joes was very passionate about his motorcycles and cars, especially his Shelby Mustang. He loved the beach, and was an avid Boston Sports fan. Above all else in life, Joe adored his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by his son, Joseph J. Giar of Boston, and daughter, Laura Scena and husband Robert of Bourne. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Isabella and Matteo, sister Edith Moose and husband Pete of FL, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother William Giar and sister, Mary Lou Mills.
Mr. Giar’s Visiting Hours will be held on Friday from 4-8PM in the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A, Sandwich. His Funeral will be held at 11AM on Saturday in the Second Church of Plymouth, 518 State Road, Manomet, MA. Burial will follow in Manomet Cemetery. Relatives and friends invited.
