

Lucille R. (Vance) Purdy, of Sagamore Beach, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2015. She was the wife of the late Frank H. Purdy. Born in Sevier County, TN, she was a daughter of the late John and Judith (Turner) Vance.
She was a resident of Sagamore Beach for over 50 years. She moved to Massachusetts as a teenager from Kentucky.
Lucille enjoyed being out in the fresh air and living by the canal. Her favorite pastimes were gardening, playing bingo and traveling to Atlantic City and Foxwoods. She loved spending time with her family and cooking. She collected various styles of unique and vintage dolls and as well as vintage glassware.
She looked forward to her daily Dunkin decaf and her afternoon rides through Sagamore Beach. In her later years, she began to make new friends while attending Bridging the Years Program at the Bourne Community Center. She truly cherished her days there.
She is survived by her children, Frank H. Purdy, Jr., Charles T. Purdy, Melinda B. Nickerson, Edward Purdy; siblings, Marry Curry, Mildred Cahoon, Charlie Vance, Tom Vance and Joy Marie Lovell; grandchildren, Holly M. Nickerson, Frank H. Purdy, III, Joseph J. Fay, Edward A. Purdy and Elizabeth A. Purdy; great-grandchildren, Caleb T. Fay, Bella A. Purdy and Adam L. Purdy. She was the mother of the late James Purdy, he passed after birth and grandmother of the late Joshua A. Nickerson, sister of the late Andy Vance, Ed Vance, Willie Vance and Marge Vance.
Her visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 4 – 6 p.m. at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home 154 Route 6A. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Bayview Cemetery Sandwich. Arrangements under the direction of Nickerson~Bourne Funeral Home, Sandwich, MA.
