1/16/1927 - 8/14/2022
Born in Fort Hunter, New York to parents Harold and Elsie Wittemeier (Minch) in 1927, Marion passed away in Sandwich on Cape Cod on August 14, 2022 after having lived a life replete with devotion to family, a genuine kindness and caring for all and a quiet wisdom which was a blessing to and a lesson for all she encountered. She enjoyed the simple life; time spent with family, the comfort found in day to day routine, a good meal, an occasional trip to the casino and a rousing game of Scrabble or any other kind of board or card game which she invariably won! She will remain forever in our hearts; hers was truly a life well-lived.
Growing up in Fort Hunter, she later met Stephen Simeone her husband-to-be and they were married there in 1945. Together they raised three children. The family enjoyed visits to Cape Cod during the summer and ultimately moved to Harwich in the late 1960’s. There Marion worked as a secretary for many years including at Rogers and Gray Insurance and most recently at Pleasant Lake Medical.
Marion was predeceased by her parents, her sister Eleanor Rothbell, her brother Arnold Wittemeier, her husband Stephen Simeone and her daughter Karen Francisco. She is survived by her son Robert Simeone of Bridgeport, New York and her daughter Barbara Simeone of Harwich, MA. Also surviving are her son-in-law David Francisco of North Carolina, grandsons Alan and Mark Francisco of Washington, DC, brother-in-law John Simeone and several well-loved nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will take place on Wednesday, August 24th at 2 PM at Pine Grove Cemetery in Tribes Hill, New York. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date on Cape Cod at the convenience of the family. In memory of Marion, please consider performing an act of kindness for someone today.
