Michael was born in New Kensington, PA, on June 3, 1951, to the late Thomas Wenzel and Martha (Sanford) Wenzel.
Michael was a devoted husband, father, grandfather/great-grandfather, sibling, uncle and friend. A hardworking and humble man, he always put his family first and never sought recognition for what he did for others. His kindness, gentle spirit, and quiet strength touched everyone who knew him.
In 1982, Michael married the love of his life, Carol Marie Wenzel, with whom he shared 41 years of marriage. Together, they built a life centered on family, dedication, and unwavering support for their three children: Timothy John Wenzel (Gretchen), Heidi Lynne McLaughlin (Kevin), and Heather Marie Wenzel.
Above all else, Michael was a family man. He took immense pride in his role as a grandfather and found his greatest joy in being present for his six cherished grandchildren: Madeline Santoro (Joseph), Michael Wenzel (Melea), Haley McLaughlin, Liam McLaughlin, Gavin Garte, and Neelan Garte. He was also the proud great-grandfather of his cherished great-granddaughter, Caroline Santoro. He rarely missed a game or special milestone, whether cheering from the stands or spending quiet moments together, always making each grandchild feel deeply loved and supported.
Michael was known for his steady presence, sensitivity, and warm heart. He valued his friendships deeply, offering loyalty, consistency, and genuine connection. He found peace in the simple routines of daily life, often taking his neighborhood walks where he enjoyed conversation, reflection, and familiar faces. At home, Michael took great pride in keeping his yard immaculate - a reflection of his care, discipline, and quiet dedication to the place he called home.
Alongside Carol, Michael worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for his family and took great pride in their accomplishments. His love was constant, his support unwavering, and his devotion unmistakable.
Michael is survived by his three children and his siblings: James Wenzel (Merrilyn) of Buzzards Bay; Rebecca Van Beeck of Buzzards Bay; Richard Wenzel of Buzzards Bay; Deborah Wenzel of Centerville; and Mark Wenzel (Ann) of Centerville, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Michael is reunited in eternal rest with his beloved wife, Carol, whom he missed deeply. He will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather/great-grandfather, sibling, uncle and loyal friend. His legacy lives on in the family he treasured so deeply and the love he gave so freely.
