Patricia N. Lupica

Patricia Nellie (Merra) Lupica, age 94, wife of the late Peter G. Lupica, passed away peacefully on April 15th. She was surrounded by her loving children at Cape Heritage Health Care Center in Sandwich, MA. She was the daughter of the late Sabino Merra and Anna (D' Allessandro) Merra. She was born in and was a lifelong resident of Brockton, MA before moving to Sandwich, MA 24 years ago.

She graduated from Brockton High School in 1937 with honors. Following graduation, she was employed at George Knight & Company, as a secretary, until her marriage to her sweetheart Peter in 1947.

She loved social gatherings and was a warm, kind and giving person. She was also an excellent conversationalist and loved hearing about the lives of her children, grandchildren and nieces and nephews. But, most of all, she enjoyed taking care of her home and family. An excellent cook and baker, she could make meals from scratch as well as prepare a large holiday feast, with her specialty being Italian iced cookies with sprinkles.

She is survived by three daughters, and one son. Louise and her husband Craig Watson and Patricia and her husband Barry Sheehan of Sandwich, Jean Lupica of Easton, Joseph and his wife Anne Lupica of Brockton, and five grandchildren: Jennifer and her husband Dave Souza of Natick, Rory Sheehan and his wife Celia of Alexandria VA, Gina Sheehan of Sandwich, Jacqueline and Christina Lupica of Brockton.

She is also survived by her brother Sam Merra and wife Judy of Sudbury, her sister-in-law, Emily (Lupica) Merra of Brockton and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her brother Frank Merra.

Donations can be made to Cape Heritage Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, 37 Route 6A, Sandwich, MA 02563, where Pat resided the last two and a half years and was treated with kindness and respect. Visitation Wednesday 3-7 p.m. at Nickerson Bourne Funeral Home,154 Route 6A, Sandwich, Funeral Mass Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church, SAndwich and a burial to follow at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
