Raymond Cormier was born in Newton to the late Maurice and Jeanne (Boutin) Cormier, October 17, 1934. Raymond graduated from Our Lady of Newton in 1952. Along with his friends, Ray often spent summer weekends on the Cape where he met his wife of 51 years. He married Mary Doherty in 1972, settling in Sandwich MA.
Ray was a pinball machine repairman for Ryan Amusement Company on Cape Cod until his retirement in 1999. He continued to freelance repairs on pinballs, juke boxes and other video games in his garage well into retirement, often setting up a gaming room full of machines for the kids at family parties.
Ray was a lover of all things motorized and frequented plane, train and automobile museums all over New England. He enjoyed driving his 1937 regatta blue Packard Club Sedan around town and talking about antique cars. As an active member of the V8 Car Club, and other car enthusiast groups around Sandwich, he participated in many classic car shows and parades over the years with the Packard or his 1937 DeSoto. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and spoiling them regularly with an Oreo or fudgesicle, whenever they asked, no matter the time of day.
Ray is survived by four children: Paul Cormier of Lynn, MA; Andrew Cormier of Sandwich, MA; Anne Wyman and her husband Hugh, of Medford, MA; and Laurie Ruszala and her husband Paul of Sandwich, MA and his 1937 regatta blue Packard club sedan.
