

DAVIS, Richard E., 88, of Sandwich, MA passed away at home on April 14, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Boston, MA to the late Francis and Margaret (Barrett) Davis on September 20, 1934. He is survived by his wife Ellen M. Davis to whom he shared 61 wonderful years in marriage.
Richard “Dick” grew up in Roxbury and attended the Carmelite Junior Seminary in Hamilton before transferring to Christopher Columbus to finish high school. He and Ellen Sheehan met on a blind date in 1957 when they went to see an Elvis Presley movie, “Jailhouse Rock”. He served in the United States Army for two years where he was stationed at White Sands Missile Testing Range, NM. Dick worked almost 25 years in grocery retail where at times he could be heard singing in the backroom. He went to work with a long-time friend at a printing company, ZBR. He and Ellen made a go of their own business called Tahiti Obsessions after their dream 25th Anniversary vacation in French Polynesia. They tried retiring in sunny California for ten years before moving back home to Massachusetts.
He is predeceased by his daughter Ellie Davis who passed in 2006 and is survived by his three children; Richard E. Davis, Jr. and wife Kerry of Kingston, MA, Terri O’Connell and husband Michael of Redondo Beach, CA, and Anne Luevano of Sandwich, MA. His eight grandchildren; Patrick Davis, Jason O’Connell, Kylie Vartelas, Anthony Luevano, Matthew O’Connell, Jordan O’Connell, John Luevano, and Zachary Luevano. One great grandchild; Avery Davis. His brother; Charles Davis and his wife Joan of Middleboro, MA and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday April 19, 2023 at Corpus Christi Parish, 326 Quaker Meeting House Rd. Sandwich, MA. Burial will be held on Thursday April 20th at 12pm; Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden, MA. Visitation will be prior to mass from 9-10:30am on the 19th at Nickerson Bourne Funeral Home.
