

Thomas Joseph Griffin, born on September 11, 1965, passed away on April 6, 2025, at the age of 59. He is survived by his beloved partner, Fernando DeJesus; his mother, Cora Griffin; and his siblings: Cathy (Tony) Mulvihill, Joanne (Jerry) O’Riordan, Jack (Monica) Griffin, and Mary Ann Kass. Tom was a fond uncle to Maura and Katie Mulvihill; Erin, Maureen, and Sheila O’Riordan; and Jacob and Ethan Griffin. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Griffin.
Tom began his career as a flight attendant with America West from 1989 to 1991. He then joined Northwest Airlines, which later merged with Delta Air Lines. After a fulfilling career in aviation, Tom pursued his passion for healthcare, becoming a nurse in the early 2000s.
He started his nursing career in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (ICU) before transitioning to the Neurology department. Tom worked at several esteemed medical institutions in Boston, including Boston Medical Center, Massachusetts General Hospital, and, finally, Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
An avid runner, Tom found joy in outdoor activities. He especially loved running the stairs at Swallow Cliff Woods in the forest preserve and Camelback Mountain in Arizona. His love for animals was evident to all who knew him.
Throughout his life, Tom resided in Palos Hills, Illinois; Phoenix, Arizona; and Sandwich, Massachusetts. His adventurous spirit, dedication to helping others, and love for the outdoors will be fondly remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A memorial service for Tom will be held on Thursday, May 1st at the First Church Sandwich, 136 Main St., Sandwich, MA 02563, at 11am.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, May 10th at 10 am at Sacred Heart Church, Palos Hills, Illinois.
