Thomas Cahill Roux, 58, of East Wareham died unexpectedly after a short illness on Monday, January 15, 2024. Born in Fitchburg, he was the son of the late Henry and Ann (Cahill) Roux. At a young age, Tom moved to Bourne with his family and attended Bourne public schools. After high school graduation, he attended Cape Cod Community College and received two Bachelor degrees from UMass Dartmouth in engineering and mathematics. Soon after graduation, Tom started his own company, Thomas Roux Civil Engineering.
Tom was a loving brother, uncle, and great-uncle. He enjoyed playing golf with his father and cousin Peter. He loved spending time with his mother, taking her out to dinner and on driving excursions down Cape. He enjoyed taking out his canoe and fishing in lakes and ponds, especially with his great-nephew Kingston with whom he had a special bond and referred to him as ‘The King Man’. Tom liked taking pictures. He documented every family get together and fishing trip. Though he was fiercely independent, Tom adored his family and rarely missed a family gathering. He also loved babies. Any chance he had, Tom would hold, cuddle and rock the family little ones.
Tom will be greatly missed by his loving sister Laura (Roux) Bergeron and husband Mark of Sagamore Beach, and brothers John Roux of New Bedford and Jim Roux and wife Mary (Lindberg) Roux of Cataumet. He also leaves behind many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Joseph.
Visiting hours will take place on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 9–10:30 am at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A, in Sandwich followed by an 11 am Funeral Mass at Corpus Christi Parish, 324 Quaker Meeting House Road in East Sandwich. Burial in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Sandwich.
The family would also like to thank the wonderful staff for the care they provided to Tom while he was getting intensive care at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston.
