

Mr. Walter J. Morey, Jr., 80, of East Sandwich and formerly of Brockton, died June 2, 2014 at Cape Regency in Centerville. He was the beloved husband of Eleanor (McSweeny) Morey with whom he shared 54 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Brockton, Walter was the son of Walter J. Morey, Sr. and Ruth (Quirk) Morey. He graduated from Coyle High School Class of 1951 and then from Stonehill College Class of 1957. Walter honorably served his country as a Paratrooper in the US Army.
Having a genuine interest in helping others, Mr. Morey was a teacher for the Abington School System for 35 years, retiring in 1994. In addition to his teaching career, Walter spent 36 years of his life as a Park Ranger for the US National Park Service, covering the Cape Cod National Seashore.
Walter was a very avid Boston sports fan, especially in following the Bruins and Red Sox. He was a communicant of Christ the King Parish in Mashpee, and enjoyed the beach and walking along the canal. Above all else, Walter adored his family, especially his grandchildren, Allie and Jack. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed.
In addition to his wife, Walter is survived by his daughter, Ann M. Morey of East Sandwich and son, John P. Morey and wife Carla of Milton; grandchildren, Alexandra and Jack; sister, Joan Dion of FL and many nieces and nephews. Walter was predeceased by his brother, James F. Morey.
Visiting Hours will be held Wednesday from 4-7PM in the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A, Sandwich. Mr. Morey’s Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 11AM in The Parish of Christ the King, 3 Job’s Fishing Rd., Mashpee. Burial with Military Honors will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
