

Andrew Wei Tung Liu, 90, of Atlanta died July 10, 2013. Andrew Wei Tung Liu was born March 2, 1923 in Guangzhou, China. He was brought up in Shanghai and graduated from St. John’s University in Shanghai with a Master’s Degree in business. After World War II, he attended the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business receiving an MBA. While studying at Philadelphia he met Bessie Lee originally from Hong Kong and they were wed in Hong Kong on June 21, 1952. He worked for a period of time in Hong Kong and after having two children, moved to Mexico City and opened an import/export business. He moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1972 where he and his wife sold Chinese art goods which were known throughout Atlanta for the varied and large selection of wood stands and Chinese porcelains. He retired from their business after 25 years. He was a long time member of St. James United Methodist Church. As a youth, he played the accordion and recently he reignited his interest in the accordion which brought him much joy. He was a kind, patient and generous man. Mr. Liu was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. Fred W. Liu and is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bessie Lee Liu; son Dr. Lai Yuan Liu, daughter-in-law Linda Collins Liu; daughters, May Harn Liu, May Ling Liu, May Ting Liu; and grandchildren, Andrew C. Liu, Alexander Liu, Laura Liu, Christina Crunk. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. James United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd. Sandy Springs on Friday, July 19, 2013 from 6 to 8 pm. The memorial service will be held Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 11:00 am at St. James United Methodist Church. 4400 Peachtree Dunwoody Rd. Atlanta.
