

Bob Phillip Gordon, 84, died January 30, 2011. Mr. Gordon was born in Atlanta and was a lifelong resident of the Atlanta area. He was one of six children of Aaron David Gordon and Miriam Kantor Gordon. He graduated from Buford High School, attended Emory University, and graduated from The University of Georgia where he was a member of Alpha Epsilon Pi. Mr. Gordon served in The U.S. Navy during World War II and The Korean Conflict. He was co-owner of Gordon’s Department Store in Cumming, GA. After becoming a stock broker, Bob went on his own and founded Bob Gordon & Company, an investment counseling firm. Bob enjoyed his family, classical music, art, and traveling. Always an optimist, he was also a former president of his Optimist Club. Mr. Gordon was preceded in death by his adored wife of 50 years, Rebeca Jafif Gordon and is survived by his children, Vickie Olson (Paul), Mike Gordon, Dr. Anthony Gordon (Margot), Miriam Burgess (Wylie); grandchildren, David Olson, Lindsay Olson, Dora Gordon, Leslie Gordon, David Gordon, Erica Burgess, Steven Burgess; brother, Lawrence Z. Gordon; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The American Diabetes Association or to Congregation Etz Chaim where Mr. Gordon was a long-time member. Graveside services will be TODAY, February 1, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at Arlington Memorial Park with Rabbi Shalom Lewis officiating.
