I knew  Carol through a Science Fiction convention, which we both attended many times.  She was always fun to talk to and was very sweet.  I admired her writing and she will be remembered for her wonderful stories.

I met Carol when I started  working at the U.S Forest Service after moving from Washington DC  in 1972.  We remained friends all these  years.  Did not  visit in later years but kept in touch by phone.  Our funny conversations were always about her mother's escapades. I truly admired her mother, Jeanie.


Over the years every time we got together sooner or later we would be at a restaurant and Carol would order a Ruben sandwich. I have a cornbeef in the crockpot. I sent my husband to the store for sauerkraut. Picture me lifting it up.  Carol dear friend, this one is for you!!

I never had the pleasure of meeting Carol, but I worked with her sister Carey.  Carey was always relating stories about Carol.  I could tell that she and Carol were very close, as only sisters can be.  This is a devastating loss for the family.  My prayers go out to them all.

Carol my cousin. Always offering a shoulder, pick me up or a laugh  when You were  down. I remember at the American Legion, Uncle Olin would cook those awesome steaks,  our family would gather in a corner and take up most of the dance floor, sometimes someone would say something or we would just look at each other and the  smirk on her face said it all, then came the laughter, no words spoken you knew exactly what she was thinking, then the laughter. I miss those days, I’m gonna miss you Carol. You were a HOOT!!

One of my favorite memories was when we would gather at Grandmother Newt's for Christmas as kids. We would all be running around waiting to eat. Uncle Dee would always be picking at us and keeping us entertained. We would have to wait to open presents. Carol was so excited to have her turn at the table to open her gifts. Later on my daughters would relate to us how funny and entertaining Carol was. Tonya saw her in New York and they still hit it off. We will miss her smile, sense of humor and personality that always lit up a room. We'll cherish her memory.

Carol was a lovely lady, friend and neighbor.  She was always so kind and thoughtful.  I am deeply saddened by her passing.  She will be greatly missed.  May her life forever be a blessing.

Carol was such a special person.  I had so much fun on our cousins' trips.  I remember her wonder in NYC.  I remember her love for animals.  She always seemed to have a smile.  When she sent me birthday cards, she  would mention that she was the younger cousin and I was the older by 3 days.  We both will miss her.

Those left to cherish her memory include siblings, Alvin DeForrest Moore, Jr. (Denese), Carey Miller and Cathy Frazier; nieces Ashley Miller and Kristin Fowlkes (Chad); nephews Tim Moore and Philip Baker; great nephews Nathan Moore, Charlie Fowlkes and Connor Fowlkes and many cousins.
