Charon Lee Dailey, a radiant soul with a bold heart and boundless love, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She was 55 years old and surrounded by the people she cherished most— Luis Canales and their two children, Rosario and Andres Canales.
Born on February 6, 1970, in Sarasota, Florida, to Randy Dailey and Maria Cristina Bustamante, Charon spent much of her upbringing in Santiago, Chile, as the beloved eldest sibling to Randy, Christopher, and Nicole. From an early age, her nurturing spirit and fierce compassion were unmistakable. She had a lifelong love for animals, never hesitating to open her heart and home to those who needed a second chance.
Charon’s love story with Luis began in childhood as next-door neighbors. Their connection grew into a lasting partnership, and they married in 1994. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, love, and adventure. Their journey took them from Chile to New Jersey in 1999, Mexico City in 2009, and finally Atlanta in 2012—each place touched by her magnetic presence and signature laugh that could light up a room.
She was a devoted mother whose love knew no limits. Charon poured her entire heart into raising Rosario and Andres, nurturing them with unwavering support, soulful wisdom, and daily reminders to follow their dreams—while always staying true to who they were.
Charon had a deep spiritual side, finding joy and purpose in tarot, numerology, and astrology. She was the kind of person who made fast friends with strangers, gave the best advice (often with a touch of mysticism), and never missed a chance to speak up for the voiceless. Her strength was matched only by her kindness, and her vibrant energy made her unforgettable to anyone lucky enough to cross her path.
Though her time with us was far too short, Charon's legacy will echo for generations. Her laugh, her love, and her fearless spirit live on in the lives she touched—especially in the hearts of her family, friends, and every stray she ever saved.
Charon Lee Dailey will forever be remembered as a beautiful light in this world. May her soul rest peacefully, and may we all carry a bit of her warmth and wonder with us always.
