David Andrew Savula, 68, born in Mogadore, OH, and resident of Dawsonville, GA and Pawley’s Island, SC, died on June 17, 2016. David (Dave) Savula is survived by his wife of 46 years, Beverly J. Savula; son and daughter-in-law David John and Joy Savula; son, Michael P. Savula; grandchildren, Andrew, Jamie and Morgan Savula; and sister Joan Moulton. Dave had been battling sarcoidosis for more than two years, but never wavered in his passion to help others succeed, nor in his fight to conquer the disease. Dave was a stranger to no one, with a personality larger than life that will be greatly missed by family, friends and colleagues. Dave was a strong patriarch of his family, and leaves behind a legacy of love and lifetime memories of happiness. He was also the top leader of LegalShield’s independent sales force for the past 24 years, as well as a highly-esteemed football coach in the NW Georgia Youth Football League for 30 years. To honor Mr. Savula’s wishes, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Foundation for the Pearlstine Sarcoidosis Center of Excellence, 18 Bee Street, MSC 450, Charleston, South Carolina 29425 or online at musc.edu/giving/medicine - please note Dave Savula in the “Tribute Information” section of the donation page. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 27 at 11:00 am at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal Church in Atlanta, GA, with long-time friend Rev. Jeff Keeble officiating. A reception will be held at the church immediately following the funeral services in his honor.
