Donald T Browne died April 5th 2018 surrounded by his loving family. A native Atlantan, he was born to William Collier and Mildred Tracy Browne on January 16th 1934 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Don attended E Rivers Elementary and graduated from North Fulton High School in 1952. He attended the Georgia Institute of Technology where he was a member of the Chi Phi Fraternity and was the football manager for the 1952 National Champion undefeated Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. He received his degree in Industrial Engineering and graduated in 1956. After graduation, he married the love of his life, the former Colleen Enloe, who he was married to for 61 years.
Don received a commission in the United States Air Force and completed a year of graduate work in Meteorology at Florida State University. He served the remainder of his tour of duty as Wing Weather Officer for the Strategic Air Command at Hunter AFB in Savannah, Georgia where he attained the rank of Captain.
He spent the majority of his career at Wachovia Bank where he worked in Risk Management and Governmental Affairs. He retired from Wachovia in 1992 and pursued a second career as President and CEO of the Georgia Bankers Association Insurance Trust where he finally retired in 1999.
Don was active in many organizations throughout his life. He was a lifetime member of the Buckhead Boys and a member of Gridiron. He was elected President of the Atlanta Chapter of The Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) in 1977 and was elected the national president in 1984. He was awarded the Goddell award in May of 2000, recognizing a lifetime of achievement in furthering the goals of Risk Management. Governor Zell Miller appointed Don to the Board of Directors of the Georgia Music Hall of Fame Authority in 1991, and he served as its Chairman. In September of 1998, he also appointed Don to the Board of the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, and he was elected chairman in 2001. Don also served on US Senator Zell Miller’s Military Academy Selection Committee.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Colleen Enloe Browne, his five children, Tracy Browne Stephens (Glenn), William Collier Browne II (Mary Anne), Donald Tracy Browne Jr. (Julie), Michael Enloe Browne (Jo Anne) and John Stapleton Browne (Carrie) his sister Mary Louise “Marlo” Sedki (Nebil), 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday April 8th from 5-7pm at HM Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, Sandy Springs Ga. , 30328. The Rosary will be said at 6:30pm.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30am on Monday April 9th at St Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 705 Spalding Drive, Sandy Springs Ga., 30328. A lunch reception will follow the service.
