

Mr. Farmer was the son of the late Louise Golden and Hulett E Farmer of Carrollton. He attended West
Georgia College, where he received his Associates Arts Degree, then transferred to the University of Georgia where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. After graduation he joined the Marine Corps and graduated from the Platoon Leaders Class and the Basic School. He served as an infantry platoon commander in Okinawa from 1961 to 1963. He returned to Atlanta and joined C&S Bank in an Executive Career in Finance. In 1968 he married the love of his life and wife of 52 years, Brenda Elizabeth Bray. After a leave from the bank he volunteered for a tour in Vietnam, serving as a Rifle Company Commander and S-3A with the 26th Marines between 1968 and 1970. During 8 major Operations he received the Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V”; the Navy Achievement Medal; the Combat Action Ribbon; the Presidential and Navy Unit Commendations. He continued to serve in the Marine Corps Reserves for over 32 years and retired as Colonel and Commanding Officer of BSSG, 2nd Marine Amphibious Brigade.
Upon his return from Vietnam, Frank started a new career as owner of an import distribution business at the Atlanta Merchandise Mart where he organized and implemented an elite sales force well-known through out the Southeast territory of the United States. He retired from “Bray-Farmer and Associates” in 2004 to spend time with his family and to travel with Brenda and friends.
Frank was a kind and gentle person and a source of admiration for his accomplishments. We will sorely miss his presence among us as our representative of honorable and steady service to his country and family.
Mr. Farmer was preceded in death by his daughter, Kelly Elizabeth Blevins, and is survived by his wife , Brenda Farmer; son, Kevin Farmer; grandchildren, Robert Mitchell Gordon and Kelsey Elizabeth Blevins; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth Earl Farmer and Jinx Princess Mangham Farmer; nephew, Trey Farmer; and niece, Mikki Farmer.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
A Memorial Service was held at the Cathedral of St. Philip where they have worshipped for 46 years, at 2744 Peachtree Rd. NW, Atlanta, Ga.30305.
