On July 28, 2015 Frieda Whitener Courson, age 83, went to be with “her Jesus” and “her Tom”. In early May she was diagnosed with a glioblastoma. When she was diagnosed she said if she lived or died it was a Win-Win! She is survived by her sister, Bobbie Whitener Lauster; brother, Edsel Whitener; godsons, Philip and Peter Bartkowski, Steve and Sandee Bartkowski; and many loving nieces and nephews. Frieda was a long-time member of Mt. Paran Church Of God. She will be greatly missed by her family, long-time friends and Sunday School members. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Thomas B. Courson Scholarship Fund, Lee University, Dept. of University Relations, P.O. Box 3450 Cleveland, TN 37320-3450. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 1, 2015, at 3 p.m. at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Prior to the service the family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m.
