
George D. Tracy, 84, of Roswell, GA, died Wednesday, March 16 after a long illness. Born in Somerville, Massachusetts in 1927, George was the son of George T. Tracy and Anna M. McManus., and the grandson of Timothy McManus and Ellen McManus, each of Lancashire, England. George was raised in a warm and loving household which included six aunts and one uncle. In 1944, George graduated from Rutgers Preparatory School, in Somerset, NJ. He attended Middlebury College, graduated from Brown University in 1947, and earned a master's degree from George Washington University. For 22 years George served in the US Navy, stationed with the Supply Corp in a variety of locations in the Pacific, including happy stints on the USS Agerhorn and the USS Helena. George retired from the Navy as a Commander, and subsequently worked in banking, residing in Yardley, PA, from 1967 until 1989. On May 31, 1952 George married Jessie Ann Tracy (nee Kavanaugh), of Columbus Georgia, who survives him. He is also survived by three sons, George G. ('Brook") Tracy, R. Craig Tracy, and his wife Ottilie Jarmel, Mark Tracy and his wife Jacqueline Tracy, as well as three grandsons and two granddaughters. His wife and family will always remember him as a gentle man -- kind, loving, and loyal. Services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 19, at St Peter Chanel Church, 11330 Woodstock Rd, Roswell, GA.
