Gloria C. Gould, 92, died in the peaceful comfort of her home in Atlanta, Georgia on January 25, 2026. Mrs. Gould was born May 2, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan to Joseph and Sue Charnoske. She spent her childhood growing up in Detroit and graduated from Redford High School. She attended Pine Manor Junior College and graduated from Michigan State University in 1954. Upon graduation she worked as a dietitian at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, where she met her husband of 61 years, Dr. Mark A. Gould, courting him with special snacks in a fifties version of Grey’s Anatomy. They also enjoyed cruising down Detroit’s Woodward Avenue in Gloria’s Ford Fairlane, affectionately known as “Red Rocket.”
After two years in Amarillo, Texas (while Dr. Gould was a physician for the U.S.A.F) and two years in St. Louis, Missouri, Mrs. Gould and her husband settled in Atlanta, Georgia in 1962, where they raised their two sons, Mark and Thomas.
The Goulds enjoyed traveling across the United States and around the world, visiting all 50 states and over 50 countries. “Granny” was a doting grandparent and was a role model for her three grandchildren, always being sure to keep the grandchildren well wardrobed, teaching them how to crack a lobster tail and never missing any special events in their lives. Gloria was also a loving mom to her dogs ChaCha, Honeyball and Barney.
After her husband’s death, Gloria moved to Peachtree Hills Place with Barney, where she dearly enjoyed the company of her new friends on the fourth floor. Gloria’s family also sincerely appreciates the loving home care provided to her by her caregivers, particularly Arma Harris and Fidelia Okolo, so that she could remain in the comfortable surroundings of her own home during the last few years.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Gloria is survived by her son Mark Gould and daughter-in-law Allison Gould of Atlanta, Georgia and her son Thomas Gould and daughter-in-law, Teresa Gould of Westfield, New Jersey. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Michael Gould (Abi Moeller), Caroline Clawson (Kendal) and Christina Berry (Justin); and two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Blaik Clawson and Kieran Brooks Clawson.
A memorial service for friends and family took place at Peachtree Hills Place, 229 Peachtree Hills Avenue in Atlanta, on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 1:00pm. Mrs. Gould will be interred in a private ceremony at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Gould’s memory to Holy Innocents’ Episcopal Church, 805 Mount Vernon Highway, NW, Atlanta, Georgia, 30327.
