She was born July 30, 1942 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Viola Davis and David Scher. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati Art School. She was a hard-working employee with Rich’s Cuisinart demonstrator, a service representative for Satelink, purchaser for Unifood and finally ending her career as a YMCA site director. Harriet also acted as president of the National Council of Jewish Women. She was also a founding member of both Temple Emanu-El in Sandy Springs and Temple Beth Tikvah in Roswell. She enjoyed Mahjongg, cooking, studying art and being a grandmother.
She adored her kids and grandkids and created a home for everyone that entered hers. Harriet was truly a class act: full of poise and grace, steadfast and loyal to her family, children and grandchildren, and kind, seeing the best in others and embracing the sweetest moments in life such as with the children she cared for at the YMCA, or giggling with her sister as only sisters can in the unspoken language they shared from a bond forged as children. She was generous beyond measure and her wisdom was limitless, offering her guidance to her family as the devoted matriarch that she was. She celebrated every milestone and birthday, anniversary and achievement, glowing in the warmth of her family and grandchildren’s accomplishments and encouraged her loved ones, children and grandchildren as an unflinching cheerleader and principled mentor. Her guidance and devotion was born of love, a selflessness that transcended a lifetime of artistic accomplishments, creativity, and prowess which took a secondary role to her most important and noble charge: Harriet was truly the finest daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother in every sense of the word.
In addition to her parents, Harriet is preceded in death by her son, David Josselson and sister, Arlene Goldhoff. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Josselson, children Brian (Rachelle) Josselson and Marc (Nicole) Josselson, grandchildren, Victoria (Tori), Jordan, Emily, Jenna, Justice and Isabella (Bella) Josselson.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mount Vernon Highway, Sandy Springs, Georgia 30328.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in the memory of Harriet Josselson to the Dementia Society of America.
