

Irene Holt Barron, age 90 of Mableton, Georgia died Monday September 17, 2012 at her residence. She was born at her grandmother’s home in Atlanta, Georgia. Services will be held Friday September, 21, 2012 at one o’clock at Smyrna Presbyterian Church, 3130 Atlanta Rd. Smyrna, GA 30080. Honorary pallbearers will be The China Painters and Ladies of the PEO. Graveside services will follow at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mt Vernon Hwy, NE Sandy Springs, GA. 30328. Friends are cordially invited to visit with the family Thursday evening from six until eight o’clock at H. M. Patterson & Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328, 404-851-9900. Irene was preceded in death by her husband William Davis Barron, of 60 years. She is survived by two sons Davis Cosby Barron of New Orleans, LA, Robert Holt Barron of Mableton, and one daughter Lindsey Barron Carlson and her husband Derrick Carlson of Hiram, and a sister, Betty Faye Lawton of Boston, MA. Irene was a graduate of Girls High, Atlanta, was a secretary with Courts & Co. of Atlanta and later worked for James D. Kiley, M.D. of Atlanta. As a well- known Porcelain Artist and Teacher of the art in Atlanta, she also taught porcelain art at her own studio and at the Senior Center in Smyrna, Ga. She was a member and held many offices in the following organizations: The Georgia International Porcelain Art Teachers, Georgia World Organization of Porcelain Artist, Alpha Porcelain Art Chapter, Atlanta Porcelain Artist Chapter, DeKalb Porcelain Artist Chapter, the Sandy Springs Porcelain Artist Chapter and the Fayetteville Delicate Brush Porcelain Artist and East Suburbia Porcelain Artist, Conyers, GA. She served as Convention Chairman for the Georgia IPAT and for the Georgia World PC in different years. In 1985 during the term of Governor Joe Frank Harris, she was involved in getting 78 fellow members to paint 18 place settings of Wildflowers for the Governor’s Mansion. She was a 60 yr. member of PEO Chapter. D, Atlanta, and held 3 terms as president and many other offices. Irene was a long standing member of Smyrna Presbyterian Church, PCA, past member of Trinity Presbyterian Church of Atlanta.
