Jack M. Drennan

Jack M. Drennan, age 92 of Sandy Springs passed away on Tuesday, the 29th of January, 2019. He was preceded in death by his four siblings and his wife Vivian of 70 years of marriage exactly one year prior on the 29th of January, 2018. He was born in Mabank, Texas to David Drennan the Mabank Chief of Police and Eula Griffith. While attending the University of Texas in his sophomore year he elected to enlist in the U.S. Navy in order to fulfill what he felt was his patriotic duty. He served on a USN Aircraft Carrier in the South Pacific on and around Tinian from 1944 until 1946 when he received his honorable discharge. His older brother Darrell served in the USN Submarine Service during WWII and a younger brother Jerry served in the USAF as a fighter pilot. His nephew, Colonel Troy A. Drennan is currently on active duty in the Air Force based in Salt Lake City. Following his military service he was employed for 38 years by Equifax Services, formerly Retail Credit Company retiring as Executive Vice President in 1985. He was a longtime member of St. James United Methodist Church where he served his church in many capacities over the years. Jack was a longtime member of Cherokee Town and Country Club and an avid golfer. He saved his 4 hole-in-one certificates and would joyfully recount them. He was also especially proud of scoring a 73 for 18 holes at age 80. Surviving are his daughter, Debra, RN, MSN and son-in-law, Guy Sommers, MD of Sandy Springs. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation and luncheon buffet with the family at H.M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs on Saturday, the 2nd of February from 11 until 12:30PM. The graveside service will follow at Arlington Memorial Park at 1:00PM with Dr. Jim Cantrell officiating.
